This album is all around fantastic. A complete return to form for Megadeth without for a minute sounding like they had to try. You will bang your head.

Sybaritic are a band from Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Playing a very Slayer-influenced style of metal, influenced with what I interpret as more of a broad EuroMetal sound here. A proper production would really benefit this band; the kick drum sound here can be reproduced with the flat of your hand on a desk, seemingly disconnected from the rest of the sounds. Well executed effort here by a improving band. Not my cup of tea but it may be yours. Check it out.

including two exclusive and previously unreleased bonus tracks ("Seigneur de
l'obscurité" and "Serment de vengeance").
Belenos from France play excellent "folk" tinged black metal, each album a different atmosphere. Being personally familiar with "Errances Oniriques", I feel this is a great move by Belenos. The production of the first album never really bothered me in the slightest, but it's quite refreshing to hear the music with a all around far superior production. This is much like what Old Man's Child and Vader have been up too with re-recording the older material with their newer production values. Purists may see this is as not standing behind your earlier material, but to me that's ridiculous. To me these aren't 'reinventions' necessarily, but perhaps how the artist originally wished they could have presented their work. Enjoy!

A quite enjoyable release for this style. You'll be trying to sing along to words you don't understand and fill you with the appropriate visions of vikings, pride in the Nordic areas. We're breaking no new ground here but it's really quite pleasurable - in doses. The album tends to start strong drag in the middle and pick up a bit more towards the end. I usually end up listening to either the first half or second half of the album. After a few full listens, I tend now just to revisit for bits and pieces. If this style is all you listen too, then you may be really particular about some of the weaker elements of the album. Overall enjoyable.
